What are Local History Cafes?
Local History Cafés are community based heritage and wellbeing get-togethers for over 50s experiencing or at risk of social isolation or loneliness.
Through a package of training and support exploring values, social action and agency, and support at monthly cafes and pop up events, Crafting Relationships work with heritage and community organisations to tackle social isolation and loneliness through.
Each month groups meet for tea & cake, a heritage presentation and an activity.
Local History Cafes are evaluated by De Montfort Universaity’s Leicester Academy for the Centre of Ageing (LASA).
Local History Café is a membership project founded by Crafting Relationships, funded by Museum Development East Midlands and others.
Current members are: Brackenfield Village Association, Calke Abbey, Charnwood Museum, Erewash Museum, Melton Carnegie Museum, the Sir John Moore Foundation, University Hospitals Leicester.
