Make a Difference Coaching Crafting Relationships About

A little bit about me

By way of introduction, I’m Katherine a Creative Coach at Make A Difference - Coaching.

A coaching style has been at the heart of my career for over 20 years, working across health, wellbeing, heritage, creativity, community, education and social action. I bring an awareness and understanding of those sectors with me to coaching.

The line ‘value your values’ in my logo tells you lots about my ethos and kind of work I love doing with others. Values are something we should live by and enact daily. They should shine from us in everything we do. They don’t belong in a file, stuck on a computer or a shelf. When you align yourself with your true values, start getting really comfortable with them and find ways to show them to the world, that’s when things start to change.

As a Creative Coach, I incorporate use of objects, words and images, and encourage a playful approach to testing out different ways of thinking, tailored to each individual.

In addition to the above, I am a Barefoot Coaching Limited trained coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) abiding by their ethics and good practice guidelines and have all the relevant insurance in place.

So, who do I work with?

  • Individuals and organisations out there 'making a difference'. You might want to discover or reinvigorate your purpose. You might be at the very start of something or a in need of a refresh.

  • Reflective, sometimes quieter people who value time and space to think and process information in a way that’s right for them. I see you, I hear you and I understand the value of what you have to offer in an often noisy world.

  • There are many, many ways we can each make a difference. I don’t have a list of approved ways ... you tell me that’s what you’re doing and how I can help, because this little world of ours needs more people like you right now!

What is coaching?

Before we go any further, there’s something you should know.

You hold all the answers. It’s just hard sometimes to put your finger on how to reach them.

A really good coach understands human potential and tailors working with you as an individual to unlock your thinking and support you to move forwards. As a coach I’m trained to help others with their self-development and learning, exploring goals and values, in a way that benefits them.

Working with Make a Difference Coaching

Within all my working environments, from classrooms to boardrooms, I am known for creating space where everyone's voice is heard and respected, with a real passion for unleashing the power of quieter individuals and acknowledging the different ways we process information and put it in to action.

Words often used to describe me include: calm, compassionate, aware, considered and supportive. Within my coaching practice I have a particular interest in making time to think, exploring values and beliefs and applying learning readily.

Here are some examples of potential coaching session topics:

Individuals:

  • Career changes and development

  • Finding your voice and being heard (at work and in your personal life)

  • Leadership

  • Developing ideas and putting them in to action

  • Feeling motivated and fulfilled

  • Establishing better boundaries (work, family, social commitments)

  • Improving health and wellbeing

  • Building and nurturing meaningful relationships

  • Getting organised, prioritizing what’s important and creating time to pause

  • Creating opportunities to shine

  • Celebrating what makes you tick and turning that into your personal brand

  • Supporting others to be their best

  • Deciding what you want to do more of

  • Deciding what you want to try

  • Deciding what you want to do less of

Organisations:

  • All of the points outlined under individuals, and...

  • Building your kindness economy brand

  • Better listening to all the voices within your organisation

What coaching is not:

  • A way of someone else solving your problems for you:

    • Coaching is based on the principle that an individual is ultimately responsible for their lives and the results they’re getting

    • When we acknowledge we have responsibility for something, we have the power to make constructive change

  • Therapy

  • Structured training

What you can expect from me as your coach:

While we are working together, you are my sole focus. I am non-judgmental, curious and tuned in.

At the start of our coaching relationship we will spend time establishing a professional contract, deciding on what you would like to focus on, any goals you have, your preferred learning style, how you will know if what we are doing is working, number of sessions and professional boundaries. We’ll check in on our contract at various points for a few reasons: to make sure you are getting what you need, to make sure you are applying yourself, or if the focus of your sessions changes.

My expectations in return, to ensure you have the best possible coaching experience:

  • Being 100% open and honest during the coaching process. Over time we will build a professional relationship and the more you can bring those qualities to sessions, the better for both of us

  • Absolute commitment to the coaching process, keeping to agreements made between us and putting learning in to practice

  • Voicing concerns or problems if they arise, so we can look at them together
